Convention

Definition: A meeting or formal assembly, as of representatives or delegates, for discussion of and action on particular matters of common concern.

1. Conventions are for networking and voicing your opinion. Unlike conferences, conventions should be used to share ideas and have open forums. There will be speakers at conventions as well, but this is at a more personal level with more engagement with the convention goers. Conventions are also a great place to meet other people with similar interest or the same type of jobs, so you can network or share ideas.

2. You should Share your ideas and interest. Being less formal then a Confrence, conventions are supposed to be fun and not taken as seriously. The range of topics a convention can cover is unlimited. You should arrive with no pressure to engage or participate much, but have the ability to talk to and share your ideas with everyone.

3. Group Decisions. Conventions are built off interest to a specific topic. People with diffrent backgrounds, such as jobs, can get together and make decisions on how to improve the topic or work together to expand their interest.

Why attend? Networking! Its the main reason anyone should go to a conventions besides just to have fun. Using the opportunities to meet new people who love the same things you love can help you gain more knowlege on the subject or even get you more involved with the community.
